Who We Are 

What is AOA Community Land Trust? 

Our community holds, governs, and protects land in perpetuity for organic-biodynamic agriculture, farming education, and land conservation.  Due to the generosity of hundreds of community members and collaborating farmers and educators, AOA Community Land Trust was incorporated formally in 2013 as an Illinois non-profit corporation named Angelic Organics Association (AOA).   AOA trustees are grateful to have fiscal sponsorship from Agrarian Trust, a national 501(c)(3) land trust. Agrarian Trust works with communities to permanently remove farmland from speculative markets, giving next-generation farmers secure, affordable land access.

Are you the same as Angelic Organics, the vegetable farm business?
No. Angelic Organics was John Peterson's organic farm business. It closed in 2024. We are a separate non-profit organization that protects the land commons. 

Are you the same as Farmers Rising, formerly Angelic Organics Learning Center?
No. Farmers Rising is a separate Illinois non-profit that runs farm education and training programs. They are one of the land stewards on our land, operating from the lodge on the north campus. A gift to Farmers Rising supports their education programs. A gift to AOA's Farms Forever Fund protects the land itself in perpetuity.

What is Angelic Organics North LLC?
It is a land-holding company, not a farm and not a charity. AOA community land trust holds the majority of its shares, with the aim of bringing that land into permanent protection.

Why give to the Farms Forever Fund?
We are raising $20,000 to protect the land commons and support the transition to a new generation of farmer stewards. Your gift goes toward keeping this land in the commons permanently, not toward any single farm business.
